Branches of Trigeminal Nerve [CN V]

Trigeminal nerve arises from 4 distinct nuclei: main sensory nucleus, mesencephalic nucleus, spinal nucleus, and motor nucleus. The 5th cranial nerve aka trigeminal nerve give rise to following branches: 1. Ophthalmic Division The ophthalmic branch is further divided into many branches. They supply: . upper eyelid and conjunctiva . forehead . eyebrow . scalp till lamboid sutures . roof of orbit and sinuses . eyes . lacrimal glands 2. Maxillary Division This branch carries sensations. It also carries parasympathetic fibers. It innervates: . lower eyelid and conjunctiva . cheek . floor of the orbit . cheekbone . maxillary sinus . upper teeth . palate and nasal cavity 3. Mandibular Division It carries both motor and sensory fibers.
