What is the hallmark autoantibody associated with PBC?
Primary biliary cholangitis is an autoimmune disease of liver which effects the bile ducts leading to bile in hepatic cells resulting in trauma. The condition presents as bone pains, joint pains, fatigue, itchy skin, dry eyes and mouth and pain abdomen. The diagnosis is done by blood tests which show antimitochondrial M2 antibodies. These antibodies are hallmark of the condition. LFTS, ultrasound and liver biopsy is also done.
