What signs would you look for on CXR?
Pulmonary edema is a condition in which patient has fluid accumulation in the lung parenchyma. This condition requires certain investigations. When suspecting pulmonary edema chest x-ray is one of the primary investigation. In pulmonary edema a chest x-ray shows some specific signs. These include: 1) alveolar edema, 2) bat wing hilar shadowing and kerley B lines, 3) cardiomegaly, 4) diversion to upper lobes by distension of pulmonary veins and 5) effusion seen as blunting of costophrenic angles.
