On hematology, you get non-specific findings such as peripheral lymphocytosis and elevated levels of antibodies. You can also look for respiratory alkalosis followed by respiratory acidosis on arterial blood gas analysis. However, the definitive sign would be the presence of Negri bodies on brain tissue examination and direct fluorescent antibody test that'll stain brain tissue for these antibodies directed against rabies antigen.
