What antibodies are present in myasthenia gravis?
In Myasthenia gravis, antibodies against the acetylcholine receptors at the neuromuscular junctions, are present.
Myasthenia gravis is a synaptic pathology. The disorder is auto immune in nature. Antibodies are formed against acetyl choline receptors in post synapsis. This prevents the muscle excitation to occur. Most cases have IgG antibodies Blood tests for diagnosis show antibodies against Acetylcholine receptors or another protein present called MUSK protein. Myasthenia can be distinguished from Lambert Eaton syndrome on basis of these antibodies as well.
