Ladd’s bands are stalks of peritoneal tissue. The function of these bands is to hold the cecum in its place at the right lower quadrant. In case of malrotation of the gut, the cecum can assume a more central position, thereby causing stretch of the Ladd’s band. The stretched band can obstruct the duodenum secondary to machinal compression. The malrotation of the gut is surgically treated by the procedure known as ‘Ladd’s Procedure’.
