Forearm and leg is divided into compartments by membranes. In case there is increase in the pressure in the compartments such as post fracture, it results in compression of the contents. this condition is called compartment syndrome. It presents as pain, discoloration and abnormal sensations. The typical explanation for the pain experienced in compartment syndrome is that it is not proportional to the cause visible. The patient is unable to bear it. There is no to very low response to analgesics as well which may look unexplained.
