What is viral conjunctivitis (pink eye)?
Viral Conjunctivitis Viral conjunctivitis, or pink eye, is the inflammation of conjunctiva caused by adenovirus. It is a common and self-limiting condition which resolves on its own within a couple of weeks. Viral conjunctivitis is not a serious condition. However, it is highly contagious. Transmission usually occurs by direct eye contact, shaking hands with the affected individuals who may have touched or rubbed his eyes, and sharing personal objects which may be contaminated as well.
