Role of Oral Rehydration in Treatment of Dengue Dehydration is the most common and concerned sign in dengue patients. Dehydration occurs due to high fever and vomiting. It leads to increased hematocrit and drop in platelet count which in turn produce severe complications. Dehydration can lead to plasma leakage and dengue hemorrhagic shock Therefore, it is very important to closely monitor hydration status of patient. A patient of dengue must be given oral rehydration solution at a steady pace i.e. a teaspoonful every 1-2 minutes.
