What are the complications of chronic hepatitis C?
Hepatitis C is an infection very common in developing countries. The acute infection develops into a chronic infection in 85% cases. The complications include: chronic liver disease, cirrhosis and HCC. Prognosis of the disease due to the complications is high. Treatment options available include: protease inhibitors, direct acting antivirals, interferon. Patient presenting with complication and signs of decompensation are dealt with liver transplant as definitive treatment.
