What is the role of imaging studies in the workup of avian influenza?
Imaging studies have a crucial role in the diagnosis and prognosis of Avian Influenza. A typical radiologic finding presents bilateral glass opacities and consolidation. Other findings include effusions, multifocal consolidation and lymphadenopathy with cystic changes. Imaging studies predict mortality, complications such as ARDS and prognosis. They ultimately aid in management and treatment of Avian Influenza.
