First Aid Management of Burns

Burns are common injuries encountered in households. The initial management is an essential method to limit the injury and start the healing process. Step-by-step guide is as under: - Take the injured person away from the source of burn - Remove jewellery or any clothing - Keep the burned part under room-temperature water for at least 20 minutes - Avoid hypothermia by covering the victim in case of large burns - Cover the burn with cling - Manage the pain via paracetamol or ibuprofen Burns on face and genitals, chemical and electrical burns, and deep burns should be managed at hospital.
