Toxicmegacolin as a result of C. Difficile, ulcerative colitis, crohn’s, IBD. Colon expands, dilates, and distended. It is very dangerous as the bowel could rupture.

I think hirshsprung disease is due to loss of nerve innervation in the muscles of the colon and the diagnosis is made early.....so only the descending into colon is involved USUALLY

Megacolon toxique, une situation dangereuse exposant à une peritonite stercorale due à la complication d'une crise sévère de RCH ou de Maladie de Crohn. Peut se voir dans les dysenteries grave notamment amibienne. Peut être congenital et il s'agit dans ce cas d'une achalasie colique par absence du plexus nerveux intrinsèque. Le ttt est chirurgical en urgence dans la première situation.
