What are the questions asked in AMTS?
AMTS also known as Abbreviated Mental Test score is a screening test developed in the year 1972 by Hodkinson. This test is commonly used to assess the cognitive function in dementia patients. Test is based on 10 questions that evaluates the recall, orientation and concentration of a patient with each question having a score of 1. The questions asked in AMTS are as follows: 1. Age of the person. (1 point if correct) 2. Present time to nearest hour. (1 point if correct). 3. Address of the patient, a recall question. (1 point if correct) 4. Present year (1 point if correct) 5. Name of the current place. (1 point if correct) 6. Identify any two persons. (1 point if correct) 7. Date of birth (1 point if correct) 8. Year of World war 1 (1 point if correct) 9. Name of the present Monarch (1 point if correct) 10. Count backwards from 20 to 1. (1 point if correct) Score of less than 8 indicates cognitive impairment.
