Endometriosis is a condition in which the tissue forming endometrium grows outside the uterus. The cause of Endometriosis is unknown. However there are some possibilities. - Menstrual blood, instead of leaving through vagina, enters fallopian tubes and pelvic cavity - Post-hysterectomy or C-section complication - Lymphatic system transports the cells from endometrium to other areas - Hormonal influence - Genetic influence The symptoms of Endometriosis are - Severe menstrual pain - Long-term and persistent lower-back pain - Long term and persistent pelvis pain - Menorrhagia i.e. heavy menstrual bleeding - Diarrhea or constipation - Bloating - Hematuria i.e. blood in urine - Hematochezia i.e. blood in feces - Fatigue and exhaustion - Nausea and vomiting - Dyspareunia i.e. Pain during sexual intercourse - Spotting between menstruation Endometriosis is diagnosed by surgical laparoscopy. The treatment of Endometriosis is - NSAIDs for pain management - Hormonal therapies - Surgical removal to remove the extra unwanted tissue
