Hyperglycemia refers to elevated levels of blood glucose whereas hypoglycemia refers to really low levels of blood glucose. Basically, a fasting blood glucose level above 125 mg/dl is referred to as hyperglycemia and a fasting blood glucose level below 70 mg/dl is referred to as hypoglycemia.

And how to get rid of it? I mean is there something I can do about it? Because I just discovered that I have diabetes so I don't know what to do it's sometimes 180mg/l and sometimes 97mg/l

It depends if you have diabetes type 2, high resistence against insulin, then you have two things to do, 1- lower the glucose intake so that you upregulate the insulin receptor again back to normal. If you keep taking a lot of glucose, insulin will be secreted many times to the level the receptor of insulin will be resistant to insulin, so if you lower the release of insulin by lowering your glucose levels for a while, that will upregulate the insulin receptors back to normal. It is exactly like when you do something for fun for the first time, you will have high level of joy but if you keep doing it, you will be bored of it so you will try to increase the amount of fun to get the same stimulation. The second thing you could do if you have type 2 diabetes, you could do exercise. Research had proven that GLUT 4, transporter for glucose, could be localized to the cell membranes of the skeletal muscles WITHOUT the release of insulin and by this way you will increase the sensitivity for the insulin receptor which is the goal you want to reach to. Let me know if you feel confused about anything.

You can break down both of the words into their roots. Hyper- means high, Hypo- means low. When a person has hyperglycemia, their blood sugar is to high. However, when a person has hypoglycemia, they have low blood sugar. Diabetes can cause both hypoglycemia and hyperglycemia. Drugs like Glucophage, Levemir, Novolog, and Januvia help with diabetes (either type one or two). Diabetic coma can also happen if blood sugar is way to high, or way to low
