Insomnia is an age-related or psychological disorder in which an individual finds it difficult to sleep, staying asleep and waking up. Causes of Insomnia are - Sleep deprivation - Irregular sleep schedule - Anxiety, depression or other mental health disorders - Physical discomfort e.g. pain - Medicines - Physical illness - Lifestyle - Pregnancy Signs and symptoms of Insomnia are - Difficulty in sleeping - Waking up several times during the sleep - Unable to go back to sleep - Waking up early - Waking up tired and not fresh - Annoyed, irritated and exhausted all day - Unable to take a nap even though you are tired and sleepy Insomnia is diagnosed by gauging the sleeping pattern and ruling out the possibility of any other underlying illness and nutritional deficiency.
