Tetanus

I bet not everyone know the story behind this painting. I've personally seen this on memes, being used in any social media platforms. But don't you know that this painting has a very deep meaning that is medically related? This Portrait was painted by Sir Charles Bell. It was an image of a soldier suffering from tetanus in 1809. Basically, this position is medically termed as "Opisthotonus" which is a type of abnormal posture where the back becomes extremely arched due to muscle spasms. And this condition is usually a sign of serious brain conditions caused by tetanus.
