Epidemiology of Dengue in Africa • Dengue has spread in almost 22 countries of Africa. • Aedes aegypti is the principle vector in Africa. • Other vectors include Ae. albopictus, Ae. africanus, and Ae. Luteocephalus. • All four serotypes of dengue i.e. DENV-1, DENV-2, DENV-3 and DENV-4 circulate in Africa. • Fortunately, no laboratory test confirms dengue epidemic in Africa.
