Menetrier disease is a rare disorder characterized by large gastric folds secondary to excessive growth of mucus cells. The cause is idiopathic. The patient with Menetrier disease presents with pain in the epigastrium. Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, weight loss, and anorexia. It is a protein-losing gastropathy i.e., proteins are lost from circulation into gastrointestinal tract. This loss of proteins can cause edema. Ulcerations and erosions can cause bleeding. Menetrier disease shows slight male preponderance. It usually occurs in fifth decade. Due to vague symptomatology, the prevalence of Menetrier disease is not known.
