A woman who went to the ER with stomach discomfort and vomiting discovered that her symptoms were caused by complications from a procedure she had six decades before. According to a case report published Jan. 8 in the journal BMJ Case Reports, doctors discovered a 1.5-inch (4 cm) long calcified stone in her intestines. The stone had been forming within the woman for roughly her entire life, as turned out to be. The woman had surgery for an intestinal obstruction when she was six days old. However, the surgical procedure utilised by her doctors left a dormant portion of intestine in her body, which gathered particles over time and eventually formed a stone. The stone was surgically removed, and the woman recovered completely. Originally published on Live Science.
