According to Institute of medicine men need 30 to 38 grams of fibre per day and women needs 21 to 25 grams fibre per day... Roughage helps you in maintaining blood sugar and cholesterol, regulates digestion, aids in weight management & disease prevention.......!!!
It apparently also has anticancer properties aswell. Dietary fibre have no nutritional value.
Dietary fibre have two component one is soluble part which ferment in colon into gases and physiological active by-product and give the sensation of fullness which prevent from over eating and second is insoluble part which absorb the water in GIT and easing the defecation and prevent from constipation.
