What is included in preprocedural evaluation of patients receiving therapeutic injections for pain management?
1. Practitioner criteria - The practitioner must be trained and experienced enough to administer therapeutic injection for pain management. - The practitioner must have sufficient knowledge about benefits, side effects, risk and possible complications. - The practitioner must know the anatomical landmarks of site of injection and pharmacology of administered anesthetic agent. 2. Administration of anesthetic agent - Take detailed history from patient. - Perform nerve test and musculoksleteal test. - Document vital and GPE on daily basis. - Document pre - and post- operative photographs of site of injection. - Employ electromyography (EMG) and ultrasound.
