What are the classical sclerosing cholangitis (PSC) findings on MRCP?
In suspicion of primary biliary cirrhosis MRCP is done. MRCP is a MRI of scan of hepatobiliary and pancreatic duct. It is the cholangiopancreatography magnetic resonance. There are no classical MRCP specific findings in PSC, even though periductal fibrosis, paucity ducts and periportal infiltrates may be observed. PSC is managed bile acid sequestrants, antibiotics, antihistamines, urodeoxycholic acid and opioid antagonists are used. ERCP with balloon dilation or stent placement is helpful as well. Definitive treatment is liver transplant.
