How does the incidence of dengue vary by age?
Epidemiologic characteristics of dengue differ by region, and disease incidence varies by patient age. In Southeast Asia, incidence of DF and DHF is highest among children (2,3); in the Western Hemisphere, incidence of these diseases is higher among adults.
There is no age predilection for dengue. Dengue virus infects all age groups. However, presentation and complications of patients vary.
