Torsades de pointes or as simply known as torsades is a type of polymorphic ventricular tachycardia that is defined as progressive change in the amplitude of the QRS complexes and twisting of the complexes around the isoelectric line. Torsades have an association with prolongation of QT interval (congenital or acquired) that most likely occurs due to abnormality in ionic current flow during repolarization.
