The five causes of dilated pupils are - Medicines e.g. Amphetamine, Antihistamines, eye drops - Disorder of third cranial nerve i.e. oculomotor never - High intraocular pressure - Exposure to poisons e.g. Benzene, chloroform, toxic mushrooms, Jimsonweed - Drugs e.g. Cocaine, marijuana, withdrawal from narcotics and heroine You can identify these causes in yourself if you have dilated pupils. However, if someone else is in a compromised condition there is a risk of a serious underlying condition.
