Risk factors of endocarditis are - Age i.e. over 60 - Prosthetic heart valves that carry germs - Rheumatic fever or infection that produce scar on heart valves - Congenital heart defects - Implanted heart device e.g. pacemaker - Illegal drug abuse via IV injections - Long-term catheter use - History of poor dental health - History of endocarditis
