Vocal nodules are swelling that appear in the lining membrane of the vocal cords and its composing tissue. This conditions usually results due to over and intense use of voice over long periods of time (such as screaming or singing). Vocal nodules present most commonly with hoarseness of voice. This conditions is usually diagnosed by an ENT specialist by the use of a laryngoscope which can help visualise the nodules. The main treatment and preventive measure is voice rest and/or speech therapy and if resistant to then surgical removal.
