Abdominal aortic aneurysm is the dilatation of abdominal aorta that is usually an acquired condition. It is a life threatening condition that can end in rupture and excessive bleeding within the body. In majority of the cases atherosclerosis is the major cause. This condition is commonly seen in men, smokers and over 50 years of age. Genetic conditions like Marfan syndrome and Ehlers-Danlos syndrome also increases the risk. Symptoms includes constant abdominal pain, lower back pain and pulse is felt in the tummy. In case of rupture: •Sudden excruciating pain •Dizziness •Tachycardia •Shortness of breath •Fainting.
