Fibroids or Leiomyomas

Fibroids or leiomyoma are commonly occurring benign rumours of myometrium. They are typically well circumscribed masses with a whorled pattern on cut section. Types of fibroids: 1. Subserosal fibroids: Most common form found outside the uterus and May protrude into abdominal cavity. 2. Intramural fibroids: Found in the myometrium. 3. Submucosal fibroids: Rare tumours that grow inside the uterine cavity. May be pedunculated 4. Pedunculated fibroids: These fibroids are attached to the uterine cavity with a stalk. 5.
