Scoliosis is a spinal deformity where the spine is curved sideways. The curve is defined as “S” or “C” shaped deformity. Signs and symptoms are visible deformity, pain, cardiorespiratory problems and problems with mobility. Main causes are: 1. Idiopathic: Due to unknown causes. 2. Congenital: Present at birth. 3. Degenerative: Result of degeneration of disc in uneven fashion. 4. Neuromuscular: Involves neuromuscular diseases. 5. Thoracogenic: Due to radiation exposure in childhood 6. Syndromic: Associated with underlying syndrome. Treatment modalities are observation, bracing, surgery, pain medications and posture checking.
