The basic approach in the investigation of lumps in neck is ultrasound. Ultrasound waves produce images of the salivary glands, lymph nodes, vascular structures, thyroid gland and other structures inside in the neck. They give a quick indication of site of pathology. On the basis of ultrasound report, Fine needle Aspiration (FNA) biopsy is conducted if the physician suspects lymphoma.
