Aortic aneurysm

Aortic aneurysm is abnormal balloon like dilatation in the aorta caused by localized weakness and stretching in the wall of aorta. The most common cause of abdominal aortic aneurysm is atherosclerosis. The risk factors are genetic predisposition, smoking and hypertension. Symptoms include abdominal pain and a pulsating abdominal mass.
