Carpal tunnel syndrome Also called median nerve compression, because the median nerve becomes compressed due to thickening of the ligaments and tendon sheath. Carpal tunnel is an osteofibrous canal in the wrist bounded by the carpal bones and flexor retinaculum. The carpal tunnel contains nine tendons and the median nerve. Clinical features: Tingling, numbness and pain in  areas innervated by the median nerve. Treatment: - Wearing a splint - Pain killers - Hand exercises - Steroid injection - Carpal tunnel surgery
