Citalopram Oral belongs to the class of Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors (SSRI). Citalopram Oral is an antidepressant which increases the level of serotonin in brain. The level of serotonin in brain is inversely proportional to depression. This drug increases serotonin to reduce depression. The side effects of Citalopram oral include - Suicidal thoughts and attempts - Sleepiness - Nausea - Dizziness - Weakness - Sweating - Hunger - Dry mouth - Diarrhea - Anxiety - Loss of mental clarity - Respiratory infections - Sexual problems - Arrhythmia Citalopram interacts with the following drugs. - Tricyclic Antidepressants (TCAs) e.g. Amitriptyline, Imipramine - Benzodiazepines e.g. Diazepam, Lorazepam - Cytochrome P450 2C19 Inhibitors e.g. Cimetidine, Clopidogrel - NSAIDs e.g. Naproxen, Aspirin - Anticoagulants e.g. Heparin, Warfarin
