The correct answer is e. Achalasia shows a high- pressure nonrelaxing LES with absent motility in the body of the esopha- gus. Hypertensive LES has a high-pressure reading at the LES. Esophageal spasm shows high-amplitude prolonged pressure waves. Nonspecific dis- orders include repetitive swallows and dropped waves that do move through the whole esophagus. Obstructive causes of dysphagia are best diagnosed on barium swallow or endoscopy.
