How perforated duodenal ulcer causes pneumoperitoneum? Where does the air come from? Please explain although it is easy but I couldn’t understand

Gas is present throughout the GIT and therefore, whenever a perforation is present, the luminal gas will escape into the surroundings. Gas comes from two main sources- the air that we swallow and the gases that are produced by colonic normal flora. This gas is free to move within the intestines.
