Systemic Inflammatory Response Syndrome (SIRS) is a condition in which body produces metabolic and phenotypic response towards infection. The response includes changes in respiratory rate, heart rate, blood pressure, temperature regulation, and immune cell activation. In other words, it is a clinical response arising from non-specific insult with any 2 of the following properties: - Temperature > 38C or <36C - Heart Rate > 90 beats/min - Respiratory Rate > 20 beats/min - WBC > 12000 mm3 - PCO2 < 32 mmHg
