Topical Miconazole is an Anti-fungal cream. It belongs to the class of Imidazoles. Topical Miconazole is used for the treatment of tinea pedia i.e. athlete’s foot, tinea cruris i.e. jock itch, tinea versicolor i.e. brown or pale spots and rings on neck, arms, back, legs and chest and tinea corporis i.e. ringworm. This topical cream functions by inhibiting the growth of fungal spores on skin cells. The side effects of topical Miconazole include itching, burning, stinging pain, raised skin, flaking, irritation and tenderness on the area where it is applied. Serious side effects include allergic reaction characterized by trouble in breathing, rashes and dizziness.
