Nervous tissue development

Nervous tissue development

1. Neural tube 2. Optic cup 3. Lens of the eye 4. Brain vesicle 5. Neuroepithelium differentiating into different neural cells like ependymocytes 6. Parts of future throat and neck 7. Unsure The right picture shows how the histological cut is made. A thickened region called ectoderm, located between primitive pit and oropharyngeal membrane is the basic structure of nervous tissue development. In 3d week neural plate which will become the neural tube is formed. Neural tube will give rise to brain and spinal cord. Neural crest cells give rise to peripheral ganglia, Schwann cells and afferent fibers. Also mesoderm participates in nervous system development by giving rise to dura mater and coverings of peripheral nerve fibers (endoneurium, perineurium, epineurium).
