Shaken baby syndrome

★A serious brain injury resulting from forcefully shaking an infant or toddler. Shaken baby syndrome usually occurs when a parent or caregiver severely shakes a child in frustration or anger, often because the child won't stop crying. Permanent brain damage or death may result. ★Rare : Fewer than 1 million cases per year (India) ★Requires a medical diagnosis :→Symptoms include irritability, difficulty staying awake, seizures, abnormal breathing, poor eating, bruises and vomiting. ★People may experience:→ (1)Whole body: fainting or lethargy (2)Behavioural: crying or irritability (3)Also common: altered level of consciousness, bleeding, bone fracture, bruising, coma, lack of interest in feeding in infants, retinal haemorrhage, seizures, shortness of breath, sleepiness, tremor, or vomiting
