Thenar eminence (hand anatomy)

The muscles at the base of the thumb help move the thumb, and form a bulge in the hand called the thenar eminence. The muscles here are abductor pollicis brevis, flexor pollicis brevis and opponens pollicis. Adductor pollicis is nearby.
