Hello my name is Jordan and I’m a junior in high school extremely interested in medicine i have already volunteered at hospitals and i am taking advanced science and math classes. I try to gain ad much knowledge as possible and i have a question. Why do certain diseases only affect certain parts of the body. For example keratosis is mainly in the feet however the keratin protein is found throughout all skin. Dermatitis does not affect the entire skin organ. Chicken pox on the other hand you most likely get on the entirety of your body. To me this makes more sense than disease like keratosis or Coxsackie which mostly affects hands and feet. Feedback is appreciated!
As a student i appreciate your curiosity systemic disese like chicken pox is spred throgh blood but in case of local infection like herpes or cmv the spred of disese is limited by our immune system so tht they cause disease in keratocytes if you have any questions free to ask✌✌✌
See virus need human/living cell to grow and multiply for that they have to bind certain cells this binding is tissue specific because some virus need specific receptor for that thats why herpes or cmv attack keratocyte more over if the immunity goes down they can spred in blood also Keratocyte are epidermis or outermost layer of skin✌✌✌✌✌
