An unusual trauma case!!

An unusual trauma case!!

In this case, the patient tried to catch a falling garage door window and his arm ended up getting pierced by the shattered glass.

Un this case I think to cut the skin is the better option. If we remove the glass without cutting the skin the risk to generate more damages is important

Cut the Skin and lift or slide the glass out ? What's the best choice ?

I think it's less traumatic to the surround skin and veins if they cut the skin and lift it out vs attempting to slide it out. I would love to know what they did though.

I'm not a doctor, but if we remove the sharp object carefully there would be less damage to the skin after cleaning the fluids with suction just to prevent hematomas, Finally clean the area and suture.

The sharp object has a thinner side like a knife can't do any more damage if it's extracted as enter, greetings !

Mathew how do you come to this conclusion?

Based on the image, I think the best option is take the patient in the OR, cut the skin and take out the glass piece, however, if he is in the OR you can take a safer and deeper look regarding tendons, which is a common associated lesion.
