A disease primarily affecting young athletic boys, Osgood-Schlatter disease is a traction injury of the immature tibial apophysis. This results in the inflammation of the tibial tuberosity at the insertion of the patellar tendon. The Xray lateral view of the knee shows an ossification separated from the main tibia. On gross inspection, a bump may be seen over the upper tibia. I have this. Diagnosed at 10yo and female. Bilateral knee surgery at 14yo. No complications since except for the prominent bumps on my “upper tibias.”
I’m was very active as a kid - always running around and participating in running races. After Dx I switched to swimming.
Thanks for sharing! Glad it's not causing you problems. Did you participate in some sports as a child?
