The beauty bones, referred to as the clavicles or collar bones, extend between the sternum and the acromion of scapula. In a condition called cleidocranial dysplasia, these bones may be rudimentary or entirely absent. In this type of skeletal dysplasia, delayed closure of fontanelles along with dental abnormalities are also observed. The stature is also moderately short. The condition is genetic and mutations in the RUNX2 gene underlie most cases. (Image via: https://healthjade.com/cleidocranial-dysplasia/ )
