Derivatives of Aortic Arches The aortic arches are a series of six paired embryological vascular structures that give rise to the great arteries of the neck and head. Arch Arterial Derivative 1 - Maxillary arteries 2 - Hyoid and stapedial arteries 3 - Common carotid and first part of the internal carotid arteries 4 Left side - Arch of the aorta from the left common carotid to the left subclavian arteries 4 Right side - Right subclavian artery (proximal portion) 5 Left side - Left pulmonary artery and ductus arteriosus 6 Right side - Right pulmonary artery
