So I was reading my anatomica and I was reading about the vertebrae and I was counting the 7 in the neck and then to my surprise, starting from C1 (Atlas) there was an extra bone at the end of the 7 vertabrae. And counting from the 11th and 12th floating ribs up, that bone really has no place. So I was wondering if someone could tell me what that bone is. Also I couldn't post a picture in the discussion section
You have 7 neck vertebrae (C1-C7) and 12 thoracic vertrbrae (Th1-Th12). You can feel the C7 if you touch behind your neck. The C7 is also known as vertebra prominens. I dont’t know, why there are more on the picture, perhaps a mistake.
