Why cauda equina is not damaged during lumbar puncter?
Cauda equina is like a bunch of straight hair hanging inside the water(csf), when the needle is inserted into the subarachnoid spaces, it will be displaced.
The CSF present in the cavity below the L1 vertebra alowes the nerve to float
The cauda equina, unlike the spinal cord, has a good level of mobility and so it's displaced rather than damaged by the LP needle
